Windows 10: Some Windows AOL mail arrives as computer language, Some OK, haven to restart to send,...

After latest updates, both w10 & 11 pcs mail opens as computer language on about half of aol mail, half is fine. Other mail app is fine. Also have to restart pc to send aol messages at least half the time. Other mail sends fine. Have tried windows mail repair, no luck. Since all mail isn't affected, not sure what to try next.

Cannot open or send AOL mail

I am using Windows 10 and computer seems to be really slow but now When I sign in to AOL I cannot open mail or send mail. The onl information I get is AOL is not responding. How can I fix the problem.

I’ve seen that error on accounts which have two-factor/step authentication where the user requires an app specific password which is entered in place of the account password.

Does the AOL account use this security feature?

If not then check the usual ‘suspects’: username & password, whether the account uses SSL & whether the port numbers are set correctly.

That reminds me of the time I told AOL tech support exactly what was wrong with AOL 9.0 (to be precise, the processes that allowed AOL to run operated like malware, and automatically restarted themselves). They didn't speak for like five minutes, and then said "thanks for reporting the problem...until then, please run AOL Spyware Protection to eliminate pesky start up services" *Wtf :wtf:. Oh yeah and according to my Mom, the reasons to run AOL are:

• Parental controls (useless and easily bypassable).
• Easiest E-mail interface (I can't argue with an opinion).
• Security (If they aren't unneccessary, they are easily replaced by better performing freeware).
