i believe someone is famaliar with my router - either notification when its online or I am starting to wonder if an employee of my ISP is collecting customer information. somehow i believe my brand new asus laptop is being/has been connected to some kind of server, which I assume i auto update it with some kind of personal info. recently, i was setting up specific settings via my gateway router login page and i kept getting kicked off. afterwards, i noticed i had a ton of new firewall rules allowing all kinds of things and it was not done automatically by windows11 or anything. is there a way

    :)

Remote Desktop second window not accessible (Help!)

This is one of the strangest things and it started on Monday (or at least that's when I first noticed it).

When I try to remote into a machine and I give it the login name, normally it will pop up a window asking for the password. It's sort of doing that, but I can't see or access the window. The only way I can even see it is by mousing-over the icon in the taskbar. Like this:

I can't access it, click cancel, or escape it. The only way I can get rid of it is to "end task" on remote desktop via task manager.

    Any suggestions?

    Remote Desktop Connection problems

Have you tried Remote Desktop Connection, to connect from your Windows 10 laptop to your Windows 7 desktop? Try it first, post back and tell how it went.

Some additional help because you mentioned you are a remote newbie *Wink. The windows 7 related tutorials from our sister site the Seven Forums:

    1. On Windows 7 desktop, set network location to either Home or Work (I recommend Work):
    2. On Windows 7 desktop, allow incoming remote connections:
    3. On Windows 7 desktop, find out its IP address:
    4. On Windows 10 laptop, start the Remote Desktop application and connect to the Windows 7 desktop using the IP address from step 3 above (see Part Three in the tutorial):
Try the above, post back how it went.
