Windows 10: Someone may be accessing my computer without my consent or awareness

I will begin by openly admitting that I am not technologically savvy! I have an ex that has, in the past gained access to my computer without my knowledge and I'm concerned that it may be happening again. He is a programmer and certified in just about everything. I had an incredible security system, complete with a honey pot but as time has gone by and due to the expense I am currently only using basic Windows security. I am the only one in my home that uses my laptop. I haven't had any issues until recently. I'm happy to share details I don't want to ramble on too much and bore you! but to get to the point...I'm wondering if there is a simple way for me to identify if someone has deleted drivers, disabled/altered settings, etc. that won't end up costing me a fortune. I have tried to interpret some of the events and logs but I just don't have the knowledge base to understand what the information actually means!

One computer cannot access other network computers.


So I've tried every troubleshooting step I know:

• Double checked that Net Bios was enabled
• Ran a bunch of network commands:
  • flushed DNS
  • registered dns
  • pinged and located the named computers successfully
• Reset my router to factory settings

Nothing works when I try to access via explorer. I'm still baffled by the fact that every other computer can access each other AND access this computer. It's just the outgoing connection from this machine that doesn't work.

Any thoughts?

 

Remove consent for a child account??

I have a similar issue. When I go to remove consent, 2 of my children are not even on the list to remove consent.

• Have you installed HP simple pass software on your computer?

Try the below steps and check if it helps.

Step 1: I suggest you to download the latest HP Simple Pass software from the manufacturer's website install it and check if it helps.

Step 2: If you have already installed the software, I suggest you to re-install it and check if the issue persists.

Follow the steps to Access Recovery Manager:

• Press Start button from the keyboard, type Recover Manager.
• Select Recovery Manager from the list when it becomes available. Allow the action to continue, if prompted. The
  HP Recovery Manager opens.
• Click Software program re-installation, Next , select
  HP SimplePass for the listing and then follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall application
