Windows 10: Something delted everything nd now laptop says I need to activate windows

A few months ago, something wiped my laptop clean pretty much. I just started it back up and now, it says I need to activate Windows. The problem is that there is now Windows Startup page to get to settings to even try. Wht do I do? I bought this laptop new a few years ago and not sure if I still even have the paperwork for it. Am I screwed? Will I hve to purchse a new copy of Windows?

So now I have a clean install and windows is activated, what are my steps to find out why my original windows install wasn’t activated......

I await instructions........

and apart from checking activation, I do everything else as per your suggestions......will in future check validated once a month.......
