Windows 10: Something happened and your PIN isn't available. Click to set your pin again, not working.

Hi, I have W.10 on my HP laptop and I was cleaning out some files a while ago and something was deleted that shouldn't have. Now I can't log in any way possible, I've tried all the simpler things, like restarting, enabling TPM, and lastly did a hard reset and went into the Recovery Environment but it says theres an error with the Boot Configuration Data and shows: File: \BDCError code: 0xc0000098Any suggestions that might help solving this? P.S. : I would like to keep my Data.

Since you have a Microsoft account, you should see this instead
Microsoft account sign-in options




If this doesn't work, there are other procedures available to consider.
--- Some of them include registry changes.
--- Are you familiar with working in the registry?

BTW, have you saved your data along with a system image backup ready?

 

Pin Login not available and can't change or remove my pin

Hi Saschavan,

To help you disable your PIN login, kindly follow the steps below:

• Go to this location: Settings/Accounts/Sign-in options
• Check the PIN options and click the I forget my PIN available to click?
  
• Enter your password, it will prompt you to enter a new PIN.
• Click Cancel and your PIN should be disable upon reboot.

Can't create pin for login. Pin stopped working

Hi Kevin,

To resolve your concern about creating pin to your computer, we suggest that you follow these steps:

• Navigate to C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\Microsoft\NGC (click to get permission when prompted).
• Delete the contents of that folder (delete everything in that folder, but leave that folder and everything above it).
• Go back to settings, accounts, sign in options.
• Your non-working pin will now be gone, and you can just click 'add a pin' and set it again.
