    Sometimes drag and drop won't work, why is this and how can I fix it?


    Sometimes when I'm spending time on my computer I'll notice that I'm unable to drag and drop things. This goes for files in file explorer, on my desktop, tabs in chrome and firefox and just now I realized it was also applying to a game I've been playing on steam- Melvor Idle. When I click on something it highlights, but it's as if I'm not holding the mouse button after the initial selection. I know that my mouse is holding it down because I can drag to highlight text. I've tried left clicking on a file and pressing escape several times and I've never had that fix it. It only happens intermitte

    Hi Charles,

    the steps you suggested didn't work for me but, when pressing the escape key it somehow expanded the drive and by using drag and drop to the single file in the list worked.

    In the past I could drag and drop multiple folders onto the drive on the network computer(s). Doing it on individual folders will take far too long and time consuming and is not an option.

    Microsoft should be able to identify what is blocking it and issue a fix.

    My machine is multi boot so tomorrow I will try with Windows 7.

    2) The Display driver is so important here that merely updating it might not be enough. Try everything here to make sure:
