Windows 10: Sometimes my keyboard stop working only letter and number keys

I am using Asus laptop for my work, and sometimes my keyboard doesn't work. Oddly, only the letter and number keys didn't work. Other keys such as space bar, arrows, tab, Enter, etc. work normally. I always use an external keyboard, and when this problem occurs, both of my onboard laptop and external keyboard are affected. I already tested my external keyboard on other laptop, and it works fine. Restarting the system always solves the problem, but it is very frustrating if I have to restart every time this problem occurs. I've been using my laptop for 3 years, and always update the system w

random keyboard keys stop working?

i went out today and everything was fine, i come home and three random keys stopped working, maybe more i havent noticed yet. the three key on the left side of the keyboard not working, the left shift stopped working, and the enter key stopped working, but the one on the numpad works fine. no one was home to use it, nothing spilled on it, i tried it on another computer and same deal. im gonna go buy a new one tomorrow but it makes me sad cause i loved this keyboard lol, microsoft ergonomic 4000. ill probably buy the same exact one if its in stock tomorrow, this one lasted or 4 years about. im just confused why three random keys spread out stopped working at the same time...seems very weird

 

Some keyboard keys stopped working after windows 10 upgrade

Has the Notebook been worked on? Do any of those keys work if holding down the Shift key? Have you used compressed air to blow out any crud that may be blocking the keys?

It's not expensive nor hard to replace the keyboard, usually can find a video or step-by-step articles on the 'net.

my keyboard desktop numbers key not responding

Hi,

There are two number keys on a keyboard, the Number Pad found at the right-side of the keyboard and the ones above the letter keys. We'd like to ask a few questions to help us identify why it's not responding:

• Were there any newly installed updates or applications on the device?
• Are you able to remember when did it start happening?
• What have you done so far to resolve this?
• Which number keys are unresponsive, above the letter keys or the Number Pad?
