Windows 10: Sony 4k Video Files Won't Play - Please Help.

I am at my wits end with trying to get my Sony camera 4k video files to play in anything besides WMP. Ideally, I want to be able to browse the video files, skip through them, delete files I don't want, and trim down the files I want to keep. My files will not play in Photos or Movies & TV apps in windows 10. Running 1909 with all updates. I am not super advanced on file formats but believe that the codec us XAVC S in an .mp4 format. I have tried codec packs with no success. I have also tried converting but nothing. If anyone knows how to fix this or knows of another app that can accomplish my simple goals of browse, delete and trim, I would greatly appreciate some help.

Troubleshooting help: YouTube videos won't play on Windows 10 PC

I just got a new Windows 10 PC & I'm finding that it won't play YouTube videos. Specifically YouTube. In the video area the loading indicator circles indefinitely and I see this message...

Additional info & steps I've tried...

• Netflix plays flawlessly
  
• Other Macs, PCs, iOS & Android devices on the same network play YouTube videos no problem
  
• I restarted the machine
  
• Restarted the cable modem
  
• The machine can do other Internet stuff fine -- browse websites, email, etc.
  
• I cleared the browser cache & browsing data
  
• I tried a different browser (I tried Chrome & MS Edge)
  
• I looked under "Windows Defender Security Center > App & browser control" but I don't see anything there about blocking videos.
  
• Turned off ad blocker
  
• Tried connecting via Ethernet and wi-fi
  
• No peripherals connected to the machine

Windows 10 Pro

Installed on 8/14/2018

OS build 17134.228

videos from Sony handycam to Dropbox

Hi Richard,

• Is this issue specific to Sony Handycam videos?
• Are you able to play other videos in your system?
• Did you try playing these videos in another Computer?

In order to update the video driver, I suggest you to follow the below steps.

a) Press Windows +X keys on the keyboard.

b) Select Device Manager.

c) Find and double-click on Display Adapter.

d) Below you find driver for Graphics, right-click and
Update driver software.

e) Follow the onscreen instructions to update the display drivers.

4k Video Editing

I've been recording 4K video clips for almost 3 years using a Sony camcorder which saves to mp4 files.... editing on an HP Envy Windows 10 laptop (an Intel 4 core i7 CPU and 16 GB of RAM)….. and usually producing either HD1080 or 4k videos for viewing on
vimeo.

My primary editing software is the 2012 version of Microsoft's Windows Movie Maker, saving to 4k videos using a custom quality profile. I've not run into any issues and have over 1,000 videos on vimeo.

Using and editing 4k files is about the same as with HD1080 files. Saving to 4K files makes for file sizes 4 times bigger than HD1080.... needing appropriately more local disc and online storage space, along with uploading time.
