Can't change default programs in windows 10 (Resolved)

I am also experiencing this issue as of the latest update.

When I try to use:

Start -> Settings -> System -> Default Apps

To select the apps I want as the default, none of them actually accept any changes.

For example, my default mail client is currently blank ("Choose default"),
regardless of which I choose, it still remains blank and does not save any choices.

The UI does not even show I made a selection. The moment I click my desired e-mail client for the list, the item immediately returns to blank ("Choose default") as if I never made a selection. This behavior is also present with the other default apps. For
example, my default browser is currently Edge, regardless of any selection that I make, it remains on Edge as if I never made a choice.

This has only been happening as of the latest update from what I can tell.Searching has been entirely unhelpful in providing any insights into the cause.

Looking forward to a solution.

Classic UI is a Band-Aid workaround, but certainly not a viable continuous solution.

Does the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool download the latest build?

Does anyone know when using the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool to download installation files are these files the latest build? IE: if I use the tool now I get a certain build level... if I use the tool again in November when TH2 is likely available would
the tool download TH2 files? I realize no matter what level build is installed if the machine is connected to the Internet it likely downloads additional, newer files... in this example, TH2 if it didn't have it on the DVD/USB stick. I'm just presuming it
would be faster if it had the latest build at the beginning of installation.

 

It's 2016 already... isn't it? *Confused

 

hurry up date July 30th 2016, this is getting out of hand with all these useless insiders beta's e3very second day or for sure 1 in seven days...

Bring on Windows 2016 th3 and lets move on after that


I don't believe MS will extend the free upgrade ride on July 30th 2016 that will be it for free upgrading cuz, the windows 10 push push and force install project didn't pan out like Microsoft designed it to do, just look at the numbers MS will need to go back to the drawing board and look ahead of the curve before they wind up where RIM/BlackBerry is today with their OS system and another important chapter if MS wants to succeed is to start looking in open source open the windows code and let everyone customize their requirements and needs on their device or their enterprise solutions, plus open the app development for new apps to be cross linked quicker and faster within ARM and big money can be generated within all three stores of the big three, that's my suggestion if MS wants to promote windows 10 across the board and stop the exodus to other platforms in the likes of Linux and OSX down the road
