Windows 10: Sorry folks -- Had it with AMD and AMD graphics

I know there's loads on these boards who swear by AMD

I really have a problem with these processors

Decent AMD processor (4 core) on 32 GB machine has problems when running a Windows VM using SlyFox (or modern equivalent) to rip a DVD into an iso image. Using Samsung external DVD device for the DVD that I'm ripping to iso image.

Get "Cannot read DVD" and all sorts of associated errors

Running the same VM on a lowly 8GB HP laptop (i5 CPU) with Intel graphics etc -- no problems whatsoever

Running the same VM also on a NAS with a lowly INTEL Celeron procesor and 16 GB RAM with NVIDIA graphics -- no problem either.

Bye Bye AMD -- I like competition but I just have too many problems currently with AMD --

If a 4 core processor with 32 GB RAM can't do what a lowly laptop with just 8GB RAM handles with ease -- Bye Bye AMD

Error 182 when updating AMD Software.

You say you get error 182

Possible Cause

The AMD Radeon Software Package contains generic drivers that supports a wide range of AMD graphics products. A possible reason why the AMD Installer had failed to identify your graphics hardware and cannot continue installation is because it belongs in
one of these unsupported product groups:

• • AMD Embedded graphics
  • Legacy AMD graphics
  • Customized AMD graphics for an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) system

Solution

If you know the model of your AMD graphics hardware, you may use the
AMD Driver Selector to locate and download the appropriate driver. However, if you do not know the model of your AMD graphics hardware, please refer KB article:

For customized AMD graphics, we recommend obtaining the latest driver from the OEM System Builder or Partner Manufacturer. For a list of OEMs and Partner Manufacturers, please see

If you are still unable to resolve Error 182 after completing the steps outlined above and need further assistance, please contact AMD Customer Care and attach the AMD Installer log file to your service request. The AMD Installer log file is located in
C:\Program Files\AMD\CIM\Log\Installer.log​

You need to put in your make and model of your PC and see if it has system drivers for Windows 10 OS. If so download and install all of them. But first go into device manager and uninstall the Graphics card drivers and then install what you downloaded and
restart PC.

If it does not have your drivers for Windows 10, then still do the uninstall graphics card, restart PC and then let it install the drivers again and see if this fixes the issue.

Can you provide me with your Brand and model of your PC or laptop.

Also, Go into programs and features and see if there are any AMD graphics software such as CCC Catalyst Control Center and uninstall it.

 

AMD Update

Attempting to install AMD Softward update and got Error 182 - AMD Installer cannot properly identify the AMD graphics hardware. Windows says I have all updates. I am novice. Any suggestions?

 

AMD Radeon R7 graphics inbuilt on AMD A10-7850K Series APU

Not sure if this is a Windows problem or an AMD problem or a problem with my system. I'm asking the same question over at the AMD Community

I have a newly installed AMD A88XM-A motherboard with an AMD A10-7850K Radeon R7 processor. The latest AMD catalyst drivers (15.20.1062.1004-150803a1-187668C) were all installed over the last few days along with a new install of Windows 7 plus all available
updates.

The Windows 10 update checker on my PC says that I cannot upgrade to Windows 10 because the AMD Radeon R7 graphics chip is not compatible. It says the display manufacturer has not made the display compatible. I cannot reserve my Windows 10 upgrade.

However, the list at Windows® 10 Driver Support for Discrete AM... | Community lists the A10-7000 Series APUs as systems that are compatible with Windows 10.

So, to repeat my question: is this a problem with the Windows upgrade checker, with AMDs list of compatible hardware, or with something on my system?
