sorry i wanna ask guys, if i have 1 license windows server in 1 transaction 16 core x 2 = 32 core, and than i have 1 key activation. can i using that key with 2 different server? thanks

Windows server 2016 licensing

Hi, I'm trying to understand the licensing requirements for server 2016. The documentation I have found says 1 license covers up to 16 cores, I have several servers, each with a single quad-core cpu. Do I need 1 license per physical server, or can one licence
cover 4 servers (16 total physical cores)?

Windows Server Virtual Machine Licensing

I contact becouse I have a doubt regarding a licensing scenario with Windows Server:

Cluster with High Availability and without DRS rules-> 8 physical hosts of 36 cores each and 46 Windows Server Standard virtual machines of 8 virtual cores each:

Option 1: Licensing of physical hosts-> 18 CIS Datacenter - 2 Core licenses x 8 physical hosts= 144 CIS Datacenter - 2 Core licenses

Option 2: Licensing per VM-> 4 CIS Standard - 2 Core licenses x 46 virtual machines = 184 CIS Standard - 2 Core licenses

Is possible in this scenario license with Option 2 due to is more economical than Option 1?
