Windows 10: Sorting multiple folders by the date of the oldest or youngest file created within them

Hi I have a whole bunch of folders with a unique identifier and I'm looking to simply identify or sort the folders by the youngest age of the content, i.e the date with which the most recent file was created within that folder...Unfortunately due to a merge, all the folders have the same date of modification and creation, however the original files have the creation date visible, but only after you click into the folder. Is there a way to do this in windows explorer.Thank you Jonathan

Sort by date recent to oldest with folders on top in windows 10

i shouldn't have updated to windows 10 but the mistake is done, i won't get into the other issues, this is the most important issue for me now.

on 8.1 sorting by date in the downloads folder always worked, with folders on top then under them the files from most recent to to oldest.

Now sorting by date fails , downloaded files appear in the middle or at bottom, i tried sorting by every available date column, like date last saved or date created etc.. nothing worked except for date last saved but the folders are not on top, at the
bottom.

is this a bug in windows 10 or what? this is really frustrating

Sort by date added to folder

Hi there, thanks for your question.

In File Explorer, all sorting options can be viewed by following these steps:

- Open the folder and right click inside of it, not on a file.

- Go to Sort by > More.

This brings up a list of all possibilities of what to sort by. It doesn't look like there's an options for "date added to folder", but one of the other Date options may help, such as Date Created. You could create a copy of the file and move it in, so that
the date created matches the date added to the folder?
