Windows 10: Sound card no longer detected, unable to locate in dxdiag/device manager

Hi


I'm unable to locate my sound card anywhere using command prompt;, dxdiag, device manager, and have trawled the internet for help. I've added my BIOS settings below and the Registry log.txt I receive when clicking the audio button on the taskbar has a red cross on it


I've tried resetting the pc, completely, with no resolution. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Sound Card Cannot be found on ACER aspire E5-511P


"sound card cannot be found". Does the Device Manager list it, and with an error? Or is it no listed in the Device Manager?
If its not listed at all, that suggests the BIOS is not detecting it or there is a BIOS error. Windows will not detect it if the BIOS does not.

You can try a BIOS reset and see if that helps, if its not being detected by the BIOS.

 

No sound in external soundcard

I followed the recommended steps above which did not resolve my problem.

The steps I took to solve the problem:

• Type Device Manager in Windows Search.
• In Device Manager; Locate the sound card (in my case; Creative SB X-Fi)
• Right click that device and select "Uninstall".
• After removal from the list, click "Scan for hardware changes" under "Action" on top tool bar.
• The computer automatically detects the "new" device and re-installs the sound card.
• I'm back in business.

I would appreciate if you can provide us the following information to help us understand the issue better.

Does any Sound come when you insert the card?

Check with any other another memory card if it is getting recognized or detected or you may even check if the same memory card is getting recognized or detected on other computer.

As of now, I suggest you to follow the methods below and check:

Method 1: Run hardware and Device troubleshooter and check if the issue persist

• Click on the Start button, and type “Troubleshooting” on the search bar.
• Click on troubleshooting, then click on “Hardware and sound”.
• Under Hardware and sound, click on “hardware and devices”.
• A pop-up will appear, click on the “Next” button and your hardware troubleshooting will start.

Method 2: Update the Card Reader Driver:

Follow these steps to update the driver.

a) Press Windows key + X key and click on Device manager.

b) Search for the Card Reader Driver and expand it.

c) Right click on the driver and select Update Driver Software.

Go to Device Manger and check if the memory card shows up. Steps to go to Device manager.

• 
  Check if it’s visible there.
