    Howdy,

I was wondering if you'd be able to help me with the following problem?

I generate auditory stimuli and need 100% control over how that stimuli is panned to each speaker. For instance, I've generated tones in Adobe Audition, and in Audacity, where I pan a sine-wave tone to the left speaker 100%, and a sine wave tone to the right speaker 100%. However, the resulting tones are not played back as instructed.

If I just listen to the right speaker/earphone I can hear a faint but present 'left' tone. I've tried multiple earphones, and two Windows 10 computers for play back. I suspect that some effect setting is active in my Window's 10 system (where I create the tones) that adds a pseudo-surround sound effect to the audio playback.

I've been generating tones for many years for research purposes and have never encountered this issue before.

    My system is as follows:

My sound is managed by Realtek High Definition Audio(SST).

Can you advise me on how I can address this issue?

    Thanks,

    Boo.

    :)

    Motherboard Audio Or Sound Card?

    I agree with Erocker 100%

There is a "suggested" list of sound cards on Razer's site, personally - I am smack in the middle of testing out a couple different sound cards and have noticed the TINIEST of differences. (that being that the amp on a sound card >> onboard sound - everything else is subjectively the same)

As well I would hold off on purchasing those headphones until more reviews roll in. I too am eyeing the exact same set but will remain cautiously optimistic until I get a few reviews my way.

Sound card not panning audio 100% as instructed.

    Sound Card Recommendation

Hi guys, I buried this question in another thread of mine where people probably missed it since I didn't get a reply to it.

I am looking for a 5.1 (Or 7.1 if the feature set is better, but I am not planning on a 7.1 speaker setup) sound card (PCI, I don't want to occupy PCI-E slots with it) that will be a few steps above what my DFI DK X58-TH3eH6 offers.

Base the suggestion on a USA price of around 100-120$ or cheaper.

Local suggestions here pointed to the M-AUDIO Revolution 5.1, but I am really not an expert on sound and I could use some pointers. The speaker setup is (probably going to be) the Logitech Z-5500 and the main use of the card will be gaming, music and movies/anime.

    Thanks !!!
