Windows 10: Sound device not detected after AMD graphics update in windows 10

Hi, I have a strange problem with my Realtek HD audio driver and the AMD graphics, so any help will be appreciated.


I had a windows 10 working installation on a notebook, when I moved the drive to my desktop computer everything was working fine audio included using the basic vga driver, so I decided to update my graphics and downloaded the Adrenalin 2020 software from AMD which was the recommended for my integrated HD R3 graphics.

Lost my sound in the graphics installing process so reinstalled the realtek HD audio driver from my motherboard's official siteASRock AM1B-M and nothing, all I had was this "Unknown Device on High Definition Audio Bus" in the Device Manager.

Also tried to uninstall the graphics driver but the unknown device was still there and no sound.


Decided to do a clean install of windows 10 but this time I had no sound from the beginning, and the same shows in the Device ManagerAMD driver installed instead of the VGA and the unknown device. Seems like windows 10 setup installed the correct graphics driver and I have the same problem again.

Windows 10 does not detect Sony AVR as a sound device

I have a Sony AVR connected to my Samsung TV. AVR model = STR-ZA2000ES. The AVR has its most current firmware. I also have a Windows 10 Pro PC (64Bit, Version 1803, FX-8320-E, 8GB of DDR3) connected to the TV via the AVR. The TV is connected to the avr by an HDMI cable (V1.3a). Another HDMI cable v.1.3a is connected from the AVR to the HDMI port on an Asus Radeon R7 240 graphics card on the Windows 10 PC. Windows 10 is unable to detect my Sony AVR and reports the sound device as a Samsung TV. I used to be able to configure my "Samsung TV" sound device as 5.1 or 7.1 sound, but after some Windows updates I can now only configure it as stereo. I imagine this problem is caused by the EDID of the TV dominating in Windows, and it's probably something to do with AMD or Windows updates. Does anybody out there have a solution. I'd like my sound device in Windows to be Sony STR-ZA2000ES and be fully configurable for the speaker configuration that I have (5.1 or 7.1).
I have tried different versions of AMD graphics drivers, including the most current one, but it does not help. I should be able to go into Control Panel, Sound, and see my AVR listed, but all I ever get is the Samsung TV.

I found the solution for this problem by trying various combinations.

The steps that I followed were:

1. Install Windows 10 1903 via the update assistant.
2. Windows will alert that no drivers are installed for the AMD device on completion of installation of Windows 10 1903.
3. Go to Device Manager
4. Uninstall the device(For my case the R6 graphics, that had error code 43).
5. Do not scan for hardware changes.
6. Install AMD display driver (19.7.1 is the one I installed)

Note: The display remained black for 8minutes, in my case, while installing the AMD driver.

Done.

 

Windows 10 upgrade fail BSOD - AMD/Intel Hybrid (Switchable) Graphics - Sony Vaio SVE14A26C

Windows 10 will run on a PC with AMD/Intel Hybrid (Switchable) graphics.

Since Sony has confirmed that you might face BSOD with AMD/Intel Hybrid (Switchable) Graphics SVE14A* computer model. I would suggest you to disable one of the graphic card driver and then try upgrading to Windows 10 and check.



For disabling one of the graphic card follow the steps .

Uninstall the Device Drivers :

a) Press “Windows Logo” + “X” keys on the keyboard.

b) Click on “Device Manager” from that list.

c) Search for the Graphics Card device from the device list, right click on it and then select “Uninstall”. On the un-installation window, if you have an option: “Delete the driver software for this device” you may select that and then remove
the corrupted drivers from the computer.

d) Follow the on-screen instructions to complete it and the restart the computer if prompted
