  1. Sound devices don't stay disabled? Any good way to permanently disable them?

I have speakers on my monitor that I don't want and don't ever want to use, but have no way of physically detaching them because they are on the monitor.

For whatever reason, Windows occasionally randomly switches from SB AE-9 sound to the monitor sound. One reason is if I'm using the TV and TV sound, and then disconnect the TV, then Windows automatically selects another sound device instead, and unfortunately the monitor is "higher on the list" so to speak. The trouble is I would much rather have no sound than have it ever use the monitor speakers. If the monitor is gone then the problem is gone, but it's my main 34" monitor and I want to use it... it's just the sound aspect I want suppressed.

So I would think disabling the sound device is a good idea. I right click the device and say "disable" and it is disabled for a while, but when I reconnect the monitor it un-disables itself, and overall it just doesn't stay disabled very long. Windows FU undisables it too.

Is there a better, more permanent way to make sure an audio device is forbidden and can't be ever be used to output sound?

  4. Sound devices don't stay disabled? Any good way to permanently disable them?

Installing Sound Card - need to disable onboard in BIOS?

Nope, it either disables it automatically or you have 2 sound cards installed.

Besides that you could try to use a decent topic title as suggested in the guidelines.
