    My sound won't work after I installed windows 10. I'm using Conexant SmartAudio HD by the way. I tried using youtube for a solution but everything was for older builds. Please can anyone help me?

    upgrading build 10240

    Hi , I have installed windows 10 build 10240 on my surface pro 3 , now after the lunch of windows 10 , do I have to upgrade it to the last version by ISO file or not ? please note that I have installed all updates that released for build 10240 .

    No speakers or headphones are plugged in, windows 10

    Installed Windows 10 on a Toshiba Satellite P50 A laptop (Build 10240). I believe all drivers are installed, everything works except for sound.

    Sound does not work if speakers are plugged in, and windows troubleshoot cannot find a solution.

    Is there a solution to this?

    Thank you for any and all help.

    Note: The only option under windows topics that I could choose was "upgrade reservation", obviously that is not the actual topic of this post.

    you may have to go to playback devices and select your sound card

    Hi, did you upgrade or clean install?
    What driver is installed? Device Manager, Sound, rt click on Conexant..., properties, details

    Is your PC a laptop or a desktop?

    I have a 5 yr old HP laptop with Conexant HD SmartAudio 221, driver dated 2008. That's the latest available, it seems.

    This works with everything I've tried EXCEPT Audacity later than v2.03 (others report similar) and any ASHAMPOO programs that require a sound card.
    I upgraded from Win 8.1.

    There are many posts around about no sound after installing Win 10, so worth looking around. Good luck.
