Windows 10: Sound Drivers Don't Function After Installing Windows 10

Greetings,
I've recently installed Windows 10 via Microsoft's "Media Creation Tool"[fig. 1] for 64-bit operating systems, selecting the second option to keep only personal files and not apps (thus I'm not able to revert the OS back to 8.1). However, after the instillation, I noticed the sound drivers—or something pertaining to the audio on the laptop stopped functioning.
Even with headphones plugged in, and the obvious built-in speakers/microphone, a red 'x' apears next to the audio icon in the system tray[fig. 2]. When the cursor hovers over the icon, an info box displays the text "No speakers or headphones are plugged in".[fig. 3]

So, I tried viewing the available playback devices with disabled and disconnected audio devices shown.[Fig. 4] Nothing shows up but a device named "Digital Audio (HDMI)"[Fig. 5] And no recording devices show up at all.[Fig. 6]
Next, I attempted to view the devices shown in the Device Manager. Under "Sound, video and game controllers" two items are shown: "High Definition Audio Device" and "IDT High Definition Audio CODEC".[Fig. 7]
I've attempted to update and uninstall/reinstall both of these. Nothing has worked so far.
After this, I've restarted the laptop about two times prior to reinstalling Realtek High Definition Audio Drivers.

no sound windows 10

I have uninstalled and installed my sound and video game driver a number of times with no change in the sound lasting only 3 minutes or so after rebooting.

I have a Toshiba laptop PSC0YC-03G026 that worked fine with Windows 7. The sound stopped functioning properly about 6 weeks after I downloaded windows 10.

I have a high definition audio device from microsoft. Date 10/29/15. Version 10.0.10586.0.

I don't have sound max integrated digital audio.

What should I be installing? I have simply followed the directions to installing the latest driver after uninstalling. Maybe I should try something different but don't know what.

Windows 10 (64-bit) Drivers for Dell Inspiron N4050.

After installation of windows 10 do system update then download driver booster and update all drivers except sound and touchpad.For sound download reltek from their website and install it.For your touchpad is synaptics(used in almost all laptop)then download
the driver from their website but don't install,enter driver enforcement from recovery then install the synaptics

- assuming you have Realtek sound onboard..
you might try going to their site and downloading
the Windows 10 driver they have recently posted there..

In which case they may have loaded with default settings..
are you able to access the RealTek interface..?

 

How do I go about doing so?

 

if the driver installed correctly, you should be able access the interface
via a right-click on the sound icon (bottom right corner of the desktop)

the RealTek speaker icon should appear as an option..

 

As seen in [Fig. 4], that's all I see when I right-click the icon.

 

hmm, can you supply full details of the Make and Model No. of your laptop
- a quick review of its specs, might yield a clue..

if you right-click in that box in playback devices,
you should get an option to show disabled devices

The screen is cracked slightly, but the computer works fine.

the specs say " DTS Studio Sound™," for audio,
so you may have to contact Toshiba support for more info..

 

What does it mean exactly by DTS sound?
And how do I contact Toshiba?

Heh, I've gone here too...
But I installed Realtek Audio Drivers/CODEC, what would you suggest to install?
