Windows 10: Sound keeps going from 0-100

My audio on certain things keeps going from 0-100. I went to settings and checked sound then went to volume mixer and I clicked reset sound devices and volumes for all apps to the reccomended defaults but for some apps the sounds keep going to 0 then back to 100 over and over after I tried that. Please help, the apps that keep going up and down are Chrome, all games that I play, and steam.

Hello, I'm Jan and I'm happy to help you today. I'm sorry that you are experiencing this problem with your audio. Please try each of the following steps. Thank you.

1. Try to run the audio troubleshooter.

Search and type Audio Troubleshooter

Select Find and fix problems with playing sound

Click Next.

2. Turn off or disable the audio enhancements

Search and type control panel,

Select the Control panel

Select Hardware and Sound from the Control Panel,

and then select Sound.

from the list of audio select your audio device

right-click and select properties

open "Enhancement tab"

then Disable all enhancements

click apply

3. Disable the Exclusive mode

Search and type control panel,

Select the Control panel

Select Hardware and Sound from the Control Panel,

and then select Sound.

from the list of audio select your audio device

right-click and select properties

Open Advanced tab

Under Exclusive mode

uncheck both "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" and "Give exclusive mode applications priority"

Click apply and restart your computer.

4. Roll back your audio drivers

Press the Windows key + X

Select Device Manager

Select the arrow next to Sound, video and game controllers to expand it.

Select your Audio Device Driver

Then right-click on the audio driver and select the properties

Select the Driver tab, then select Roll Back Driver.

5. Reinstall or update the Audio Drivers

Download the latest audio driver directly from the PC/Laptop Manufacturer's support website and restart your computer.

6. Try to unplug your keyboard it is also possible that there are stuck keys that are causing the problem.

I know you say you're not that guy, but stepping into the $250+ range really brings a change in build quality that might have you never having to buy another set. Otherwise, getting 6 speakers with decent sound in a headset is hard, and that's what you are asking for, and I have no suggestions, but just a bump up the list. *Stick Out Tongue
