Windows 10: Sound loopback issues

Hi everyone!

TL;DR: output sound goes to input signal. Nothing on the internet works as always and I have an audio interface which people with this issue usually do not have AND they find their solution in their integrated sound card settings.

I've been experiencing this for a long time by now and do not know how to fix it, all other questions over the internet didn't help as I already tried most of what people recommend.

The issue is my output sound comes through to my input signal. People hear my PC sounds on Discord, Skype. Internet browsers also capture my output sound when I use mic on a website (so the issue is not related to some particular communication software).

I am using Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 audio interface, but this issue persists if I unplug it physically and use an integrated audio card (I tried to plug my headset both into front and back panel, same outcome). When using Scarlett I disable onboard audio card in BIOS, that also does not help.

It is also worth noting about my headset. It is Hyperx could Alpha with detachable mic. The signal from/to headset comes through the common cable that is later splitted into separate headphones/mic cables with splitter. What is interesting is that my friends still can hear sounds from the PC even when I detach the mic from the headset.

I have the latest drivers on my audio interface. All other audio interfaces' drivers are uninstalled.

Playing with Stereo Mix in recording settings does not have an impact either. I tried to disable it/to enable it/to enable it AND mute it (by setting level to 0) - all the same.

The Listen from this device in recording settings of my mic is disabled.

The only thing I haven't tried is to reinstall Windows 10, but I've been living with this issue for ages, I bet I've reinstalled the OS at some point and that didn't help.

Any help is appreciated.

Can't install Loopback Adapter after last windows 10 update

Hello Kevin,

If you're having issue installing MS KM-TEST Loopback Adapter, we suggest performing the manual methodas explained in the steps provided below:

• Click the Start Menu. In the search box type “hdwwiz” and then click the hdwwize.exe program link.
• Now the Add Hardware wizard should be open. Click next through the first page, and then on the second select install the hardware that I manually select from a list (Advanced). Click next to continue.
• Scroll down the list and Select Network Adapters then Click Next.
• Give the next window a moment to load, and then Click Microsoft and Select Microsoft KM test Loopback Adapter.

Now the Microsoft KM test Loopback Adapter should be installed and it will show up in your network connections window.
