Windows 10: Sound not working after laptop sleep

Hello,

I have been experiencing an audio problem very recently with my laptop (Model Schenker C505).

Whenever I close my laptop lid, and make my laptop go to sleep, the audio will not reactivate once I wake it up. However, a restart of the system seems to do the trick and the sound starts working again.

I have updated all my sound drivers (Realtek High Definition Audio) and restarted Windows Audio and Audio Endpoint in system services but the sound just won't come on.

Accompanying this, I have noticed that the laptop does not go to sleep nearly as quickly (almost instantly) as before when the sound was fully functioning. Perhaps this could be part of the issue?

Sound not working after Alienware M17 laptop has been in sleep mode

I am using Win 10 and the sounds stops working after the laptop has been in sleep mode

It works again when I reboot but this is very annoying

Have checked sound drivers and are all up to date

Any ideas anyone?

What all troubleshooting steps have you performed in order to get the issue fixed?

I would suggest you to try to turn off hybrid seep, as disabling it has worked for some users facing similar issue. Follow the steps:

• Press Windows key + X.
• Click on Power Options.
• Under your current Plan Settings (Balanced), click on
  Change Plan Settings.
• Click on Change advanced power settings.
• Now under Advanced Power Settings.
• Expand Sleep.
• Click on Allow Hybrid Sleep.
• Change the Settings to Off.
• Click on Apply and OK.

Welcome to the 10forums.

The problem here is the sleep mode.
This function is not working as it should be, some do get a bluescreen when they wake their pc from sleep, I can't wake the system (or it is taking way too long as it should).
Until Microsoft fixes the issues with the sleep mode function, it is recommended to disable sleep to avoid further problems.

I have since resolved the issue, it turns out the following .dlls (MSVCP120.dll, MSVCR120.dll, mfc120u.dll) were missing from my computer in order to start "GBOSDV2" and suspected that could have an influence on the sound problems. I'm no computer expert, but I believe this was an issue with the preinstalled programming so I installed the 2013 C++ redistributable from Microsoft, restarted my computer and voila! I can now put my laptop to sleep without sound turning off when I reopen it!

Hope this helps people with a similar issue,
