Windows 10: Sound not working during share screen

My laptop's audio works perfectly when I'm watching movies or videos. However, during calls or Google Meet sessions, the sound becomes distorted. When I'm sharing my screen or someone's sharing their screen, I can hear voices clearly, but the background music and sound effects of the video are almost inaudible. Why is this happening?

Since you have already updated the sound drivers on your computer, we suggest that you run the sound troubleshooter. Kindly follow the steps below on how to do it:

• Right-click on the speaker icon on the bottom right corner of the computer and select
  Troubleshoot sound problems.
• Follow the on-screen instructions.

I know you say you're not that guy, but stepping into the $250+ range really brings a change in build quality that might have you never having to buy another set. Otherwise, getting 6 speakers with decent sound in a headset is hard, and that's what you are asking for, and I have no suggestions, but just a bump up the list. *Stick Out Tongue

Since none of the troubleshooting steps here worked, I'd suggest you do a Clean install.
