Windows 10: Sound not working on start up have to restart to get sound working

Hi all

Windows 10 on Compaq CQ58

when laptop first powered up sound does not work, we have to use restart to get sound working, any one know what is causing this and how to fix it

Taskbar locks up after recent update

Dennis, it did work for me whenever I startup my Surface with the sound working. There were times when I started up my Surface when I had no sound. I did a test send a text to see if the Action Center will freeze up. When the text notification received,
sure enough, the Action Center locks up. Sometimes, it takes a 3rd restart to get the sound to work. When my Surface sound is working, the Action Center works fine without any issues. I have uninstalled the sound driver few times and reinstalled but still
having problem. Do you have any sound issues on your Surface?

 

Have to restart my PC to get sound

Ill be using my PC and then wam sound goes out. It's not muted or anything just sound out. This mostly occurs when I press beside my touchpad it might make a popping or cracking sound to show that the sound will cut. I don't know what is going on with
it. It's in Windows 10 it's an ASUS PC not sure what model.

 

Uninstall the sound, in the Device Manager. DO NOT uninstall the driver - skip that. Restart the PC and when Windows starts it will Detect and reinstall it. Many times the "refresh" will fix varied sound problems.
