Windows 10: Sound on my laptop stopped working

I fell asleep last night with my laptop turned on. When I woke up this morning, I found that the sound was not working. I don't know if I accidentally changed something to cause this problem. How do I try to get the sound on?

I know you say you're not that guy, but stepping into the $250+ range really brings a change in build quality that might have you never having to buy another set. Otherwise, getting 6 speakers with decent sound in a headset is hard, and that's what you are asking for, and I have no suggestions, but just a bump up the list. *Stick Out Tongue

 

Sound stopped working

I have a Dell laptop that is about three years old. The sound stopped working when I turned my laptop back on a few days ago. No sound from the speakers or headphones. Everything looks fine in the settings. ANVsoft virtual sound device working properly.
Driver is up to date. I tested the speakers in the setting and sound come from the speakers but nothing plays sound from my computer or internet. When I put my headphones on and wiggle the headphone jack around I can hear static in the headphones. I cant
find nothing wrong. Anyone have any suggestions. I updated to windows 10 about a month ago.
