Windows 10: Sound output lowers everything except for voice when using VoIP

Hello,

I have an HP EliteBook 830 G6 which lowers the volume of sound effects, music and so on on videos and music when I use VoIP like Discord.

I searched for any way to disable it but I have not yet found a way to do so.

Does anyone has an idea what this technology is called and if there is a way to disable it?

I am running Windows 10 20H2.

VOIP Voice Phone won't work with Win 10

I have a VOIP VOICE CyberPhone K (USB connection) which will not work with Win 10. The VOIPVOICE website is no longer available so can't get updated drivers there. Have tried installing and running the old (Win XP-era) package that came with the phone
in compatibility mode but no joy - just get VOIP VOICE disconnected message. Fiddling with (disabling & uninstalling drivers) Device Manager entries doesn't help either (sometimes phone appears as just a generic USB entry & others as the VOIP VOICE phone);
nor does troubleshooter . Anyone have any knowledge/suggestions e.g if there's a generic SW package for VOIP phones that might work ?

 

Windows 10 audio stutters regardless of driver or output used, more noticeable on the toslink and surround sound.

• What device are you using? A laptop or a computer?
• Its a desktop, i listed the components in the original post.
• Do you have an external speaker?From which device does the sound come out from? From the TV or from the device?
• I listed the outputs in the original post. The issue exists on all outputs and exists on the tv speakers, surround sound speakers, and headset.
• What other troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?

Good surround sound headset

I know you say you're not that guy, but stepping into the $250+ range really brings a change in build quality that might have you never having to buy another set. Otherwise, getting 6 speakers with decent sound in a headset is hard, and that's what you are asking for, and I have no suggestions, but just a bump up the list. *Stick Out Tongue
