Windows 10: Sound Problem During Online Meeting and Video Games

Hello,I have a problem that have been recurring since yesterday. During a meeting either on Zoom or Google Meet, I could not hear anything, just a tiny bit of scrunches or little noise and never any proper voice from my colleagues even though before I joined, the songs I played from Spotify can be heard properly. I tested my sound output the speaker by playing a song first, then joining a meeting later, in the end I could only hear the voice of the singer and none of the melodies. I also noticed when I wanted to listen to a song during the same meeting, same problem occurred. This problem

I have a problem that have been recurring since yesterday. During a meeting (either on Zoom or Google Meet), I could not hear anything, just a tiny bit of scrunches or little noise and never any proper voice from my colleagues even though before I joined, the songs I played from Spotify can be heard properly. I tested my sound output (the speaker) by playing a song first, then joining a meeting later, in the end I could only hear the voice of the singer and none of the melodies. I also noticed when I wanted to listen to a song during the same meeting, same problem occurred. This problem also occurred during a meeting on Zoom.

I thought something was wrong with both of my Google Meet and Zoom, so I decided to play Valorant to check. Strangely, the same problem happened! I could not hear a thing in-game, no footsteps from my team or the enemy team, no sound of pings, just the sounds of the callouts from the characters (which was muffled too).

My laptop is new (I bought it less than a month ago) and I have joined online meetings and played games before and I have not experienced this problem before. I did not 'edit' nor 'fix' the sound system because it was not broken before this problem started. I have read others' replies to this same problem on this forum by resetting the sound devices and volumes for all apps to the recommended default, restarting the sound system and deleting unnecessary sound outputs/device then restarting my laptop, but none of these solution work for me.

Did you make any changes prior to the issue?

I suggest you to uninstall and re-install the Sound drivers check if it works for you.

Follow the steps to uninstall the Sound drivers:

• Press Windows Key + X key and click Device Manager.
• Expand ‘Sound, Video and Game Controllers’.
• Right-click on the Audio devices listed and click on ‘Uninstall’.
• Select the option to Delete driver software.

Follow the steps to update the sound driver:

• Press Windows Key + X key and click Device Manager.
• Expand ‘Sound, Video and Game Controllers’.
• Right-click on the Sound device listed and click on ‘Update Driver Software’.
• Select the option to automatically search for the updated driver software.
• Restart the computer after its updated and verify.

Restart the computer after its uninstalled. Try to access the device manufacturer's website and download and install the latest chipset and sound drivers.

• Press Windows key + W and type troubleshooting.
• Select Troubleshooting.
• Select View all on the top left corner.
• Click Hardware and Devices.
• Follow the on-screen instruction to run the troubleshooter.

Method 2

I suggest you to try updating the Sound drivers check if it works for you.

Follow the steps to update the sound driver:
