Windows 10: Sound problems with LG ultrawide

I have connected my HP laptop to an LG ultrawide screen but theres no sound when I play media other than ITUNES. i ran a troubleshoot and now the device doesnt show as LG

2019 LG UltraWide Monitor

Helping users get more done in less time, LG’s latest UltraWide Monitor has a large, 32:9 aspect ratio screen that delivers exceptional picture quality. With its cinematic scale, the UltraWide Monitor is a convenient, high-quality solution that replaces the need for a multi-screen setup. The additional space supplied by its 49-inch display and incredible aspect ratio makes the LG UltraWide ideal for multitasking. LG to expand lineup of UltraWide Monitors at CES 2019

I can't say I understand the need or craze for ultrawide or IPS for gaming. Neither does much for games in my humble opinion. IPS creates ghosting, latency and glow, and ultrawide is unfortunately rarely supported officially anyway. While IPS have better wide color reproduction and accuracy, and ultrawide can create a sense of superior immersion, looks can be deceiving in a real gaming situation. Interestingly enough, everytime I game on the PC - even though I have two IPS monitors - I always choose my older TN because of the speed. Going from 1 to 4ms is huge for my eyes. Interestingly enough this LG boasts 2ms, so maybe this one is better, but I'm still not convinced. I have not tried curved before though, so I shouldn't jump to conclusion on that one.
