Dell Inspiron 16 PLUS 7630Windows 11 23H2Build Number: 22631.2715Realtek Driver Version: 6.0.9514.1 -- 5/9/2023Audio sounds like garbage though my headphone hack. I have external speakers hooked up to the headphone jack. The only thing that temporarily fixes it is if I do this..... 1. Open Device Manager2. Go to "Sound, video and game controllers"3. Right click on "RealteckR audio" Driver3. Uninstall and check the box for "Attempt to remove the driver for this device".4. Reboot the laptop. The above processes works fine for ONE reboot. So in otherwords I perform the step

Audio very quiet/horrible quality on brand new PC running windows 11 with headphone jack

    Hi-

As the title states, I'm having issues playing any type of sound over my headphones. Bluetooth plays audio normally at high quality, but the microphone is extremely quiet (only picks up 7% of max volume). With the headphones connected via the jack, the sound is maybe 10% of what it should be, and the quality is god awful. I need to use the headphone jack because Bluetooth doesnt support audio when the microphone is in use. I could buy an external mic but I shouldnt have to.

I've spent the last 2+ hours troubleshooting and trying to solve this issue to no avail. Here are the things I've tried (most multiple times):

    - tinkered with all settings>system>sound options

    - select output device

    - adjust volume slider

    - try running troubleshooter (The first time I had to update drivers; every other time it's "Unknow Error Occurred" - *there's literally a typo in the message*)

    - try different head phone jack port

    - try different head phones connected to same cord

    - try different headphones with different cord

(I can promise you this isnt a hardware issue with my headphones)

    - try running headphones on old windows 10 surface

    - try running headphones on friend's windows 11 surface

    - connect headphones via jack to monitor (heard sound loud and clear but doesnt support mic)

    - checked system for updates

    - Adjust any and all settings via device manager and control panel

    - update drivers automatically and manually

    - uninstalled driver and rebooted

    - downloaded Intel's Driver and Support assistant and checked drivers

and more...but i cant even remember.

It seems people we're having issues with low volume early on with windows 11, but I haven't seen much about low volume paired with poor sound quality. Additionally, when I have the headphones plugged into the microphone jack, the audio it picks up is very faint. I would really appreciate some help with this...I'm at a complete loss.

Playback through headphones in jack on Windows 10 not working

Currently, on my Windows 10 PC I have the following strange behavior: my speakers and my USB headphones both will play sound fine, but my headphones in the headphone jack do not play sound. Additionally, my headphones are not listed under playback devices when they are plugged in.

What I have tried so far:

    1. Restarting Computer
    2. Double-checking volume mixer to make sure I did not accidentally mute my computer
    3. Right-clicking sound icon and following all steps in “Troubleshoot Sound Problems” and restarting
    4. Troubleshoot Settings → additional troubleshooters → playing audio and following all the steps
    5. Going to Device Manager → Sound, video and game controllers and uninstalling either Realtek Audio Device or High Definition Audio Device and restarting
    6. Going to Device Manager → Sound, video and game controllers and selecting “update driver” on High Definition Audio Device
    7. Updating OS
    8. Downloading drivers from the manufacturer of my computer and restarting
    9. Going to Realtek Audio Console → Device Advanced Settings → toggling “Disable front panel jack detection” on and off and testing
Edit: The headphones work when plugged in to another Windows 10 PC and plugging in different headphones to my headphone jack did not seem to fix the issue.

Edit 2: When I put my headphones in the jack, sound stops coming through the speakers. When I installed a different driver (the one installed by the sound troubleshooter, not the one from the computer manufacturer), my headphones appeared in the list of devices, but no sound comes out.

Does anyone have any suggestions of anything else I could try? Any help or tips are very much appreciated.

Dell E6400 - No Sound from Headphone Jack

    Good afternoon, Ken.

Do you have a headset that you could test the signal available at the jack? Unfortunately, sometimes these jacks are marginal quality.

I have an old Dell Studio 1747 and the center conductor (adapter data) on the power jack is intermittent. I must jam something under the plug to obtain connected & charging.

I don't recall which Sound card it has but I successfully installed all the drivers using Win7 compatibility mode.
My Dell currently has 1909 and fully functional.

I'll fire it up soon and check the Sound card.
