Sound stops after sleep on Windows 10 for both Surface Pro 3 and Samsung TabPro S

Could anyone from Microsoft or close to it answer why, in simple words, audio sounds stop working after sleep? I use Microsoft Surface Pro 3 and Samsung TabPro S, both running Windows 10 and after applying updates such as May 2019 and previous ones, audio stops working after resuming from sleep. Volume mixer shows sounds are coming from application such as Firefox or Chrome but not outputted from speaker device. I use Display Audio for Surface and Realtek"s HD Audio(SST) for TabPro S. The point is, they are different products (and one is Genuine Microsoft Surface Pro 3) but both surely stops audio after sleep, so it does not appear to be a specific manufacture"s (I.e., Realtek's) problem but a wake-up problem from sleep in general. If no one from Microsoft can still answer this fairly long-existing problem in a simple way, I'd be very disappointed and I do hope they are working on the issues to be completely resolved in near-future updates. I just miss Windows 7"s stability compared to the persisting issues keep occurring from Windows 10 updates. Both problems can be fixed using sound troubleshooting with a reboot, but my question is simply why this annoying issues keep occurring even today, in different products?

    :)

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that after waking the PC’s from sleep the sound doesn’t work and you have to reboot the computer to get sound. We will need the following information from you to help you further:

    • Which build version of Windows is installed on both the devices? To check type:
winver in the search bar on the Taskbar and hit
      Enter.

I suggest you to install all the latest updates and see if that helps. Please refer the section
How do I manually update my PC? from the article
    Windows Update: FAQ
    .

You may also check if the Windows Audio service is running or not. Please follow the steps mentioned below:

    1. Press Windows key + R, type
      services.msc
      and click on OK.
    2. Look for Windows Audio, right click on it and select
      Properties.
    3. If the service is not running, click on Start to start the service.
    4. Click on Recovery tab and select
      Restart the service
      from the drop downs.
    5. Click on Apply and OK.

Please reply with the status of the issue, we will be glad to help you further.

    Regards,

A quick fix is to hibernate instead of sleep so set all sleep timings to "never" and all other "sleep" settings to 'hibernate." It's not as quick as sleep/wakeup, but sound never stops with hibernation.
