Windows 10: Sound works for the first 20 seconds after booting the laptop, but stops working afterwards

Hello.Laptop info: ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED, model Q415M, CPU Intel 5 125H, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD, running windows 11.This is quite the tricky problem, first, here is a full description of the problem:After booting the laptop that is, turning it on after shutting it down, not waking up from sleep the built-in speakers are recognized, and stay that way all the time, but, sound is only played for the first 20 seconds or so, and then it stops, unless I quickly open up youtube and start playing sound there, in that case the sound keeps working until i stop the video. That,s not a good sine sounds like your laptop c.p.u. is over heating and stopping it from booting up,

Okay, some comments and questions:

1. Where in the Update History do I look (is this Windows Update?)
2. What is that "that" about which you're asking if I have it reinstalled again?
3. No yellow triangles in DM
4. Troubleshooter was useless. It told me that the speakers were disconnected. And once when I had updated a driver, it told me I needed to reboot.
5. I did read up on the Kyhi boot ISO you mentioned. Apologies, but what do I then do - boot from it and it tests all the peripherals including sound?

Hi, system restore is the obvious way to go. (Time vs a fix). However that wouldn't explain why.
If that doesn't work, then could be you have a hardware problem.

Have a look at your Update History if you've not, and check nothing is listed in the timescale of interest.

- Update History might explain that, assuming sthg went wrong.

Do you have that reinstalled again now?

Are there any yellow triangles visible in Device Manager?

I wonder if you have a lower level problem.. pci drivers perhaps...

Have you tried the Troubleshooter?




Something quite different that you could try:
Download, create and boot from Kyhi's very useful boot disk (from the top of the Software and Apps section here.
If you have sound then, that should eliminate hardware problems.
