Windows 10: Space button functions as search shortcut

Just today - with certain apps/software - my spacebar began to open up search functions. I first noticed it with Firefox; when entering a search query it would refresh the search and erase whatever previous word I had entered.I tried in notepad, and similarly the spacebar opens the find window.When using Windows Explorer, the space button opens up the search function next to the start menu.I use a Dell e6420 laptop with a docking station, and an external keyboard PS/2 is plugged into it. I've never had any trouble with it before, and there were no recent updates. Operating on Windows 10 Pr

My search is not functioning

1. Use the shortcut Ctrl-Shift-Esc to open the Task Manager.
2. If you see only a handful programs listed by it click on the "more details" link.
3. Locate "Cortana" under background processes.
4. Right-click on the process and select "end task" from the context menu.

The Cortana process is reloaded right away by the operating system.

I would suggest you to try the following steps and check if that helps.

• Go to the folder C:\Windows\System32 and sort by file type.
• Look for the screensaver file type (.scr).
• Find the file scrnsave.scr(you can choose any of the screensavers).
• Right click and select send to>desktop (create shortcut). The shortcut on my attachment, but when i click on it my screen goes off and on and nothing else.
