  1. Space on hard drive being used by invisible files…?

I factory reset my computer cause I planned on starting fresh because the everything is so disorganized but when I did it wiped everything like I wanted it too but it still says that my hard drive is using like 800gb worth of files but there’s nothing there? I tried to factory reset it again thinking maybe something happened but it’s still doing the same thing. I’m not the most text savvy so I would appreciate any help. I’m trying to start my computer over completely including all my files so that it would be on all factory settings and clean hard drive with nothing on it. Thank you!-Schmidt

    :)

  2. Hard drive filled with invisible files.

My C:\ drive, which holds the Windows 10 OS, programs data/files and a little bit of user data, shows that I have used roughly 600gb of space (first image below) on a 1TB SSD. When I use WinDirStat to see what's on that drive, it shows that I have about 120gb of data on it (second image). Could someone kindly suggest what could be taking up 480gb of space—and why it is invisible to WinDirStat. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

    Invisible Files on Hard Drive

I have an external SSD that has 15GB of files that I left on it that suddenly went invisible. I know they're still there, but using 'show hidden files' and the attrib command in CMD yield no results. I don't want to have to resort to wiping the drive to
make it usable again, I still want the files on the drive. Any suggestions?
