Windows 10: Spartan

You have to have the windows firewall turned on. I use AIS that has it's own firewall, looks I will not be using Spartan.

 

Yes, the favorites bar is cutoff here too. What I also noticed is when you download a file Spartan does not ask for anything, it just starts the download immediately and the only thing you can do is to cancel the download (no "save" or "save as" options).

 

Just like any other browser, that is something that you should be able to set up manually. I have no access right now to Win 10 but let me know if you find something.

 

The only comparison I've made is with IE11 and the default actions when you decide to download a file, you have the buttons "Save" , "Save As", "Open" , and of course the confirmation of download itself ("Do you want to open or save ....?").
Spartan does not ask anything, it starts the download immediately (which I think is not good) and I hope this is a bug and not a feature.
I couldn't find anything related is Spartan's settings.

@NickTh Spartan is still very early in it's development so comparing it to IE right now is a bit hasty. IMO

 

can't open local html files.

But I prefer to compare Spartan with IE (and not with other browsers) and identify bugs or lack of features, now that's in early development. *Smile
Of course I'm using the Feedback App, but also posting here helps for others to identify or reject the same problems/suggestions, I think.

 

Me too.

You can get save-as dialogue if you right click (on an image say), but not on download. In fact you can't choose where downloads go at all. Must be a bug or non-implemented feature as it is pretty fundamental. We will see.

 

@NickTh , As I told you, there should be a Settings option for Download. Unfortunately, it's not ready yet.

 

Media and YouTube, etc. stops playing when you minimize Spartan to the taskbar just like any other container app! Maybe not a deal breaker but... *Confused

 

IMO Spartan was released early so we could help MS find bugs. Spartan is going to be updated with fixes and features as it progresses. We just need to give MS more time.

 

I think you're right. I think they threw a 'diaper' version at us to play with. It doesn't even show up in the apps list!

 

I think they simply sent us bugs so we could help them find Spartan.

 

Pretty much useless in it's present state! Uninstalled!

 

I take that back! It won't uninstall! *Confused
