Windows 10: Speaker RealtekR Audio not working. Audio services are not responding.

I haven't heard a sound on my laptop in a week HP Envy 13-6 months old. On headphones the sound works perfectly, but when I take off the headphones the whole laptop goes silent. I tried several solutions found on the internet: updating the sound driver, disabling / activating the driver, uninstalling / installing the driver, restarting audio services, using HP Support Assistant, updating Windows, resetting the PC, but also using Windows troubleshooter. I mean, everything I found on the internet. After running the Windows troubleshooter, it says "Audio services are not responding" "Unresolved". I have no idea what the problem might be. I hope you can help me to fix this.

The audio on my computer isn't working. I've run Troubleshooter and this is what comes up:

Audio services not responding Not fixed

One or more audio service isn't running Completed

Both the Windows audio and Windows Audio End Point Builder services

must be running or audio to work correctly. At least one of these services isn't

running.

Suggestions?

Audio Services not responding

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.



I understand it can be frustrating when the audio is not working on the PC. It could be possible that the audio service or its dependent services are disabled from the startup.



Let’s go ahead and try a few steps to see if we can fix the issue.



Method 1:



Try starting the PC in normal startup from msconfig options and see if that helps.

1. Press Windows key + R. This will open
   Run. Alternatively, you can go to Start and search for Run.
   
2. In Run dialog box, type
   msconfig and hit enter.
   
3. Go to Services tab and check the
   Windows Audio and Windows Audio endpoint builder
   services.
   
4. Now on the General tab select the radio button against
   Normal startup.
   
5. Now click on Apply and
   OK.
   
6. Click on Restart.
   

After the PC restarts start the Windows audio and the dependent services and check.

1. Press Windows key + R. This will open
   Run. Alternatively, you can go to Start and search for Run.
   
2. In Run dialog box, type
   services.msc and hit enter.
   
3. Now look for Windows Audio and
   Windows Audio endpoint builder services.
   
4. Right click on the service and click on
   Properties.
   
5. Under General tab change the
   Startup type to Automatic.
   
6. Now go to the dependencies tab and look for the services:
   DCOM Server Process Launcher, RPC Endpoint Mapper
   and Remote Procedure Call (RPC) and start them.
   
7. Now right click on the
   Windows Audio service and click on Start.
   

Also, you can try starting the Plug and Play service as
Windows Audio is also dependent on this service.



Method 2:



Set the speakers as default audio device.

1. Right click on the Speaker icon on the taskbar and click on
   Sounds.
   
2. Now go to Playback tab and right click on the
   speakers.
   
3. Now select set as default Device.

Audio services not responding - Audio randomly stopped working

Hi,

My first post on the forum as Ive had it with w10 and it randomly screwing up.

Yesterday I switch on my machine and notice the little red cross on the speaker and no sound.

when i run troubleshooter I get the "Audio services not responding" and no fix.

I have tried reinstalling the drivers, and also restarting the services (Windows audio etc) but nothing worked.

How to fix Audio services not responding in windows 10 - Troubleshooter

I have also tried rolling back to a restore point (which was a palava in itself as I had the error with Windows Apps folder and needing me to rename it).

Im at a loss now. No idea wth is going on.

Any ideas or help would be great!
