Windows 10: Speakers and headphones working same time and headphones don't show up in devices when...

Recently after a windows update, my HP laptop (HP Notebook-15-ay191ms) started playing audio thru my headphones and my speakers at the same time. When I plug my headphones into the front port the laptop recognizes they are plugged in, and when I unplug it recognizes that as well. Also the sound on my laptop is much lowered and at 100 percent it is still very low. I've run troubleshoot many times. I reinstalled the driver not once but many times. When checking for updates it tells me I have the latest update installed. I'm trying to avoid taking it to a shop to be worked on. When I go to the sound playback devices my headphones do not appear on the playback and I can't make any changes for the configure, set default, and the property bars are highlighted so that no changes can be made. I can't reset to default settings. I've tried to check for disabled devices but it shows nothing, and likewise disconnected devices. The speaker sound is turned up as high as it can go and my speakers are not good sound. Very low. I used to watch videos, movies etc and the sound was adequate. Now it is not. Up until an update and I don't remember when it took place I started having this problem. I've about pulled out all my hair trying to fix this problem. If anyone has any suggestions please send them to me. I am not an expert. Just someone that has used computers for many years. Usually if there is a problem it can be fixed. I've even system restored the computer to many different dates to no avail. I'm seeking help.

Speakers and headphones work at the same time

• Have you tried connecting your headphones directly to your desktop?
• Does your speaker work normally when connected to your desktop?

You may try the following steps to help resolve your concern:

• Unplug or Disconnect your speaker from the desktop.
• Connect your headphone directly to the desktop.

If the headphone works properly when directly connected to the desktop, we suggest that you contact your speaker manufacturer for assistance.

Headphones and Speakers not showing up in playback devices

To help us identify the cause of the issue and then find the proper resolution for it, please tell us if you made any significant hardware or software changes on your laptop prior to this issue. Also, can you provide us the steps you have already taken to
try to resolve the issue? In the meantime, follow these steps on how you can enable your playback devices:

• Right-click on the speaker icon on the taskbar and select Sounds.
• Under the Playback tab, right-click on the default speakers and select
  Show Disabled Devices and Show Disconnected Devices. Your headphones or speakers should now appear here.
• Right-click the headphones or speakers and select Enable.
