Windows 10: Speakers identified only as 'Line' Win 11

HiI'm running Windows 11 Home on a Dell desktop. When I plug my speakers into the audio port on the back of the PC it only recognises them as "Line" in, presumably. I've tried connecting other devices via USB which it detects as speakers, but even with these unplugged and uninstalled I cannot get the speakers correctly recognised. The front port thinks anything plugged in there is a headphone. I've tried running the audio troubleshooter but it cannot identify a problem. I've tried accessing via Device Manager but there doesn't seem to be a way to alter the device type manually. I've tried up

win 10 update leaves vertical pink line on screen

today i applied latest win 10 update and now i have a vertical pink line on screen, it remains on every screen. i have tried these fixes

• Right click on the Start button, click on
  Command Prompt (Admin).
• Type “sfc /scannow” without the quotes and hit
  Enter.
• After the scan, restart the computer and check for the issue.

Step 2: Also, I suggest you to update the display drivers and check.

Steps to Update the Display Adapter driver.

• Press Windows key + Xkey when you are at desktop.
• Select Device Manager.
• Expand Display Adapter.
• Right on the Display Adapter and click on
  Update driver software

BUT i still have the line on screen.

To enable the line-in input in Windows 10, follow the steps below:

• On the Start menu, search for Manage audio devices.
• Under Playback tab, select Speakers as your default audio device.
