Windows 10: speakers not working

just bought an asus rog STRIX gl503 and the speakers don't work. headphones do, just not the internal speakers. all drivers up to date, uninstalled and reinstalled all. windows ten completely updated. all audio checks say everything is fine. Any ideas before I have to ship it back/
