Windows 10: Special characters ' " ` ~ ^ not diplayed after the first key press

Hello everybody,


Recently I changed my working station new central unit, fresh operating system and software, new keyboard.

Since then, every time i want to type one of the characters ' " ` ~ ^ they won't appear on the screen after the first press. They are displayed only after together with the next character that I type.


For example, if I want to type she's, after I press s-h-e-' I only see she on the screen. After I press the final letter s, the full text she's is displayed, the final two caracters appearing simultaneously on the screen.


I tried changing the keyboard and it does the same thing.


Do you have any ideea what is the origin of the problem and how can i solve it?

I find it easier to just press the key with 1 on it, instead of Alt+(numpad)49 *Wink

Thanks for posting the information and the portable doc.

Every Windows has Charmap in Start | Windows Accessories. It's great if you need a one time character, but not as convenient as learning the few often typed characters such as the ones Dick mentioned.

If you want to go further with characters, beyond this thread then you should take a peek at Charmap

May i know what are teh special characters that your are trying to type on your message editor?

Could you please provide the detailed list or the combination of keys being pressed.?
