Special folders suddenly corrupted in some way after activating OneDrive

I recently decided to move the whole famiy into OneDrive, after years of relying on Synology NAS and offsites for resilience. My OneDrive account is synched with two machines - a desktop which has a full copy of all files and a laptop which mostly keeps stubs, apart from my Pictures folder. In each case I moved all the special folders into OneDrive.

The desktop is fine, everything working as expected. And I thought the laptop was too, until I turned it on this morning. The desktop and documents folders seems to have got confused between themselves, and nothing I've tried puts them back.

My OneDrive hierarchy looks like this:

Special folders suddenly corrupted in some way after activating OneDrive d8ee4312-f5ff-4bdd-9dbb-5c4c81c0eea6?upload=true.jpg

But my 'This PC' hierarchy looks like this:

Special folders suddenly corrupted in some way after activating OneDrive 61ad7778-f2db-4ade-ae60-60c64c1d97a4?upload=true.jpg

ie No Documents folder, two folders called Desktop, one with the standard Desktop icon, the other with the standard Documents icon. Both of them share the location of OneDrive desktop as their path. Critically, if I change the path in the folder with the Documents icon to the OneDrive documents path, it changes both of them to that path and displays them both as 'Documents'.

What appears to be the relevant registry section looks like this. I note there doesn't appear to be a Documents folder, but I don't understand quite how the OS interacts with this registry section, so I'm not inclined to muck around with until directed by someone who does.

    Help please!

    :)

    Windows 10 - OneDrive

Anyone know how to remove "OneDrive - For Business" from the Explorer navigation panel? I've tried just about every registry modification, and windows policy for "Onedrive" but they only seem to work for the consumer product, not for onedrive for business.

The onedrive product alone is so damn annoying and continues to load itself upon startup, even when it's explicitly remove from startup. It continues to automatically load and unload itself from within the startup folder... while I'm actively watching it load itself into the startup folder.

    Move the OneDrive Folder

Move the OneDrive Folder in Windows 10

When you set up OneDrive to sync with your computer, a folder C:\Users\XXXX\OneDrive will be created to store the contents. XXXX denotes your username. To move this folder to another location follow these simple steps:

    1. Unlink OneDrive from your PC:

    • Go to the taskbar notification area
    • Right-click on the OneDrive icon
    • Select settings
    • Click: Unlink this PC
    2. Delete the C:\Users\XXXX\OneDrive folder

    3. Create a new folder (target folder) for OneDrive contents, e.g. D:\OneDrive

    4. Create Directory Junction for the new folder

    • In the search area of the taskbar type CMD and press Ctrl+Shift+Enter
    • In the command window type
    mklink /J C:\Users\XXXX\OneDrive D:\OneDrive

adjusting it to your specific username and selection of the target folder

    5. Link again OneDrive to your PC using the OneDrive icon in the taskbar notification area

    onedrive duplicating my folders...

    Hi.

Again, onedrive is going crazy and is duplicating my main folder, full of subfolders. It's locking me out of all my files. I have windows 10, Office 365 home. I paused synch at the moment before I have 1000 copy of my folder, which I can't open anyway!
Please don't ask me any question that will further delay the repair. Simply give me a step by step solution and then improve onedrive so this won't happen again to so many of us. I suggest you also add "onedrive" in the list of "Windows Topics" below since
thousands of users have issues with it.

    Thanks

    Michel
