Windows 10: Specific keyboard keys on laptop keyboard not working

Today my W key wasn't working too well. While holding it down it would sometimes work then randomly stop so I cleaned it and everything was fine until I pressed other keys and realized they weren't working either. My E, R, U, I, O, and P keys on my laptop all stopped working.I HAVE:Uninstalled the keyboard driver and restartedcleaning the keys Running system file checker Despite it all these keys still have yet to work. I've connected an external keyboard and tried using that and it works fine though I don't know what that could mean? Am I missing something here? I have an HP Pavillion Laptop.

I understand the * key has stopped working;

Are you using a laptop or a desktop?

Do you remember changing the keyboard layout?

When did this problem start?

Is your keyboard a specific model?

Before answering the above questions I suggest you try the following;

Right-click on the start menu and go to Device Manager;

Click (>) Keyboards to expand the section;

Right-click on the first keyboard device and select Uninstall device;

Repeat the process on all devices listed in the section (>) Keyboards;

Then restart the PC;

Check if the key works again;

Keyboard Volume Keys not working while in-game

I happen to have used the Tt Challenger Pro keyboard in the past, and the volume keys worked flawlessly in every game, so it's indeed a weird problem. I would suggest the same thing sneekypeet suggested, using the keyboard software and assign this function to a hotkey, but you said that didn't work either, so yeah...

 

laptop keyboard and touchpad not working

Problem: computer starts up normally and goes to the password log-in screen, but nothing happens when I try to enter the password. The computer doesn't appear to see any keystrokes.
Solutions tried:

1. rebooted
2. removed and replaced main battery
3. attached USB keyboard
4. hit Enter key on startup: successful in opening the Advance Options menu, but am unable to take any of the actions because all require that I enter the laptop password
5. looked for an onscreen keyboard, but there isn't one because this isn't a touch screen computer

Why I think this is a Windows issue:

1. the computer recognizes when I hit the Enter key on startup
2. the USB keyboard doesn’t work
3. the keyboard touchpad doesn’t work, but the attached USB mouse DOES work
