Windows 10: Speech Language box in grayed out

When I run an app that needs a speech Language I get an error message that I don't have a speech languageWhen I go tor Setting > Time & Language>Speech the Language box in grayed out can not pick a language ,\as well as Microphone >Get started.If I look lower I see I have two installed languages - English United Kingdom and EnglishUnited States both with 0 MB . Add Voice does not not have EnglishUnited Stages and I can not find a way to delete the two languages that have 0 bytes I suspect I may have caused the issue when I ran MSSpeach EN-us TELE.msi and/or Speac

So, when you go to Settings/Speech and tap on the Speech Language box, do you get a list of available languages? Is the language you want in there? If it is, and you tap it, what happens?



If the language you want is not in that list, I'm not sure there is an option to 'download' additional languages to add them to the list.

Windows Phone only supports a small selection of languages.

I AM WAITING FOR THE DUTCH SPEECH RECOGNITION !!

An English trying to read Dutch messages just doesn't work.

Strange when you know that basically 2 Dutch speaking guys invented speech recognition.

 

Cortana speech language?

I suggest you to follow the below steps to check the language and speech settings in Cortana.

• Press Windows + I keys on the keyboard to open settings menu.
• Click on Time and language and select region and language.
  
• Under Language option, check which language is Set as default.
  
• If you find different language, you can change it by clicking on Add a language option.
  
• Select your preferred language (English UK) and click on
  Set as default under English UK language.
• Now, click on English UK and click on Options.
• Download the language, handwriting and speech packs.
• Now, click on Speech from the Time and language settings menu.
• Check if you are able to select the speech settings to English UK.
• After performing above steps, check if you are able to use Cortana.
