Windows 10: Speech Recognition - "Start Listening" after "Stop Listening" does not work on Windows 11

Hello, I rely on Windows Speech Recognition for my daily work on Computer. In Windows 10, I used to use "Start Listening" and "Stop Listening" commands alternatively to invoke the Speech Recognition and make speech recognition to stop listening to me.I purchased a new laptop with Windows 11 preinstalled. The "stop listening" command completely switches off the microphone. I have to request someone to click and enable the microphone again.Can someone spot what is going wrong here? How do I fix this problem? Note - I am completely dependent on Speech Recognition to work independently.

Speech Recognition after Windows update does not listen

We installed the latest windows updates for Windows 7/10 and Speech Recognition no longer works. For Windows 10 it was the April feature update.

In Windows 10 it refuses to start listening and even if you can by putting it in 'sleep' mode then listen it does not recognize the voice. You cannot turn it off, just 'sleep' and 'listening'. The 'Set up microphone' for speech recognition just returns
an error that the wizard cannot start. It suggests going to advanced options, but this does not work it wants you to select a default input device. Or it says it cannot initialize/find the volume meter. Advanced Speech Options usually goes 'non-responding'.

Windows 7 it can start listening, but does not hear anything.

This happened on at least 3 different computers. Different headsets were tried. I uninstalled the headset drivers and reinstalled, no change.

Head set works using the sound app in Control Panel. I can tell it to 'listen to this device' and it works so the basic microphone/speaker system seems to work. Checked for sound problems, none were found.

Any ideas?

When windows 1 0 launches speech recognition dialog shows off instead of listening. How can I have speech recognition started in listening mode when windows launches like it does in Windows 7?

Go to Control Panel - Speech Recognition. Click Advanced speech options. Put checkmark in Enable voice activation. Restart WSR, Windows Speech Recognition, and you should be good to go. See screenshot below.
