Windows 10: Spell check stopped working

Hi When I open a new word document the spell check does not work. I'm not the greatest speller so this is annoying. I often open an older document, which has spell check working, and edit this to get around the problem. But I can't figure out why new documents don't work in the same way.Can someone help?Thanks

Spell check has suddenly stopped working

We have found many instances where the spell check has worked when it is disabled and re-enabled from PC settings.

Please follow these steps to disable and then re-enable the default Spell Check feature:

• Press Windows key + X and select Settings.
• Click on Devices and then select Typing.
• Under Spelling, turn off the options: Autocorrect misspelled words and
  Highlight misspelled words.
• Restart the computer and then navigate to the same settings and then re-enable both options again. See if the issue persists.

Hi Aileen, thanks for your response. However in Typing there is no sign of a spelling option or setting.

I have windows 10 home 64 bit version 1709 on a PC desktop
