Windows 10: Splash media player crashes immediately under Win10

I have a new win10 install, and tried the new splash player, but can't even start it because it crashes... Also tried the previous version 1.6 but neither that one does not work at all. (hasn't any problem under win7)

Windows Media Player Crashes After Several Seconds

Hi Pratiksha,

I tried turning off and on Windows Media Player through the Windows features menu, however there was no difference. Windows Media Player still crashes almost immediately after it opens fully.

Is there anything else to try?

Media server under windows

I am getting confused about the media services under Windows.

The start seemed very easy indeed: every (win10 or win7) computer on which I used Windows Media Player only once immediately appeared as 'media server' under Explorer and also under WMP. Even more amazing: they were also visible (and more-or-less useable) by
for instance VLC-player. But I encountered a few problems and started reading about the subject - that is where the confusion started.

- I read about 'Windows Media Services' (WMS), until I read somewhere WMS was succeeded by Media Services for IIS, a downloadable package which I almost installed.

- Then I read about the new features for media services under win10 and how to enable them since they're not enabled by default. Following the instructions I saw nothing of the sort was enabled! But how come, then, I got 'media services' without media services
and 'streaming' enabled? Is this a different service? If so, in what way?

By now, I have no idea what is old, what is new; no idea if there are indeed various options and even less how they WORK and how they compare and what their limitations are (e.f. file-formats, compatibility with dlna and UPnP, speed etc.).

Can anyone help?

Hi, I'm running the Anniversary edition - ok on that. What's your Windows build? (Windows key + R, winver)

Crash- have a look at your event log or your Reliability History and see what that tells you.

Was there a specific error message? Please be exact in the wording - you can then search using the error message.

 

SOlution:Installed IObit uninstaller, unsintalled the player even from registry.Installed again (the old one 1.6) with a different name in program files.

 

Only worked for a couple of days *Sad

 

You'd need to look at your event log and see if that tells you anything more.

It may depend on what else you have installed on your PC. You might try running it after a clean boot, or simply decide this isn't the player for you- there are plenty of better known ones.

Other than that, run some basic checks on your PC
From an admin command prompt:
chkdsk C: /F
(needs restart)

sfc /scannow
