Spotlight screen changing on some accounts, but not all accounts on family desktop. How do...

The Spotlight screen is changing on some accounts, but not all of them. I have tried changing to picture, reboot and changing back to Spotlight. Also, I tried the troubleshooters for Windows Update and the app store. The desktop is new and everything seems to be working okay except Spotlight on some accounts. Also, I tried the following from a website as a fix, which was to launch Powershell as an administrator and run the following command. I executed the command twice before rebooting because the screen went by so fast. I can not tell if the command did anything or not. I still have t

Bypass Family Settings by conversion to Local Account

What you describe should be impossible. To test this I just now created a child account on my PC and signing in to it tried to change it to either an admin account or a local account. Could not do that.

The only way your son can change his account to a local account and "remove" it from Family, or create a new account is to have access to an admin account on that same PC (your account), or alternatively access to your admin MS account's Family settings online. For that he needs both your MS account username and password. It means that if you protect your own personal admin account (MS account) with a strong password and especially the Two-Step Verification, he has no way to access that account and he should not be able / is not able to change your Family settings or his account status.

  3. How to change an "other users" account to a family child account

I have the exact same problem. I have read this entire thread and still find no solution to the problem. My computer has updated to windows 10 as well. My child's account is now under the
other users accounts and I want to transfer him to a
family child account without having to create a new account and be able to place child restriction settings. However, the solution you provided doesn't help. This is what your instruction entails...

If your child already has a user account on your PC, you can still add them to your family.

    • Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, tap Settings, and then tap
      Change PC settings.

(If you're using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer up, click
Settings, and then click Change PC settings.)

    • Tap or click Accounts, and then tap or click Other accounts.

    • Select the account you want, and then tap or click Edit.

If your child doesn't have a standard user account, see the previous To create a new child's account steps.

    • In the Account type list, select Child and then tap or click
OK. ---->>> This part doesn't exist. It only gives you the option to change account type from
local account to administrator. What I want to do is move the existing account to family CHILD account! PLEASE PROVIDE NEW SOLUTION ASAP!!!! THANK YOU!

Spotlight screen changing on some accounts, but not all accounts on family desktop. How do...

    family account

    Hi Natasha,

About your concern, your son's account is under Family account which limits your child in downloading apps that is inappropriate for his age. To manage your family account, you may follow the steps below:

    • Go to
      account.microsoft.com/family
and sign in with your Microsoft account.

    • Select the child whose settings you want to manage from the list of children in your Family.

    • Choose what to turn on or change for your child's account:
    • Recent activity allows you to see what websites they've been visiting, what apps and games they've been using, and how much time they've been spending on their devices.
    • Web browsing lets you choose what websites your child can and can't see.
    • Apps & games allows you to limit the apps and games your child can download from the Windows Store. It also lets you unblock any app or game you’ve blocked previously.
    • Screen time allows you to set the maximum amount of time they can spend on their devices.

Let us know if you need more assistance.
