    Spyware & Virus Update error code?


    I've been trying to update my windows defender and the virus/spyware not getting updated, repeated efforts telling me to check my internet - but keep getting an error message"couldn't be installed" error code 0x080004005Please advise how I can overcome this to get protection on my laptop.thanks and regards Kathryn

    Error message Virus and spyware definitions couldn't update error code 0x80070490

    I am running Windows 10. If I try to update Windows Defender I get error message " Virus and spyware definitions couldn't update" with error code 0x80070490. Can anyone suggest how to fix this? I have no other virus or spyware application running.

    There are several possible reasons why you are unable to update your virus and spyware definitions in Windows 10. The most common cause is internet connectivity. If you are online, it can be caused by conflicts with the settings in Windows Internet Explorer.
