Windows 10: Srtasks.exe and twork.exe blocked by Defender

I keep getting these messages and when I check information on either this forum or the web it says that these are essential tasks carried out by Windows update. If this is the case why is it that these processes are blocked by Defender, which by the way seems to block updates coming from existing apps like Skype for example...

Printer exe files blocked

My Lexmark printer reports that Windows Defender has blocked two .exe files and cannot get the PC to communicate with the printer. Settings only offers options that have no connection to my problem that I can see

Please answer these questions to assist you better.

• Do you get any option to save password?
• Which application are you referring to?

Follow the steps below and check if that helps.

• Right click on the shortcut or in File explorer and select Run as administrator check if that helps.
• Also observe when you type password do you get a prompt for saving password just above Taskbar.

One of my exe files is blocked in Windows but there is no explanation why

Corrupt registry settings or some third party product (or virus) can change the default configuration for running EXE files. This may lead to failed operation when you try to run EXE files. Having said that, you may want to turn off the
Controlled folder access in Windows Defender and see if it makes any difference. You can follow the steps below:

• Open Windows Defender Security Center.
  
• Select Virus & threat protection.
  
• Click Virus & threat protection settings.
• Scroll down to Mange Controlled folder access then toggle it
  Off.
