  1. Ssd appearing in Bios, but not Diskpart or Installation media

Hello! My ssd recently decided that windows should be corrupted. I bought a new ssd and transferred the files. But the issue is, when i go to the media tool, the only disks that are showing up are the usb that has the tool on it. The bios as the nwe ssd as active, but when I went to a cmd window through repair, It doesn't show in disk part. I have access to it through my other computer and an ssd converter. Any help will be appreciated, thanks!

    :)

  2. Windows 10 Installation Media - SSD drive not showing up

    Hello all,

I am running into a weird issue trying to install windows on a secondary SATA SSD (to be transferred to another PC). When I boot into the installation media, only my computers primary M.2 disk is displayed. When opening the command prompt (via Shift+F10) from this installation media screen, and entering the commands "diskpart" and "LIST DISK", only the primary disk and the USB disk for the installation media is shown.

Now the odd part is that I have already booted into Windows on my primary drive, and confirmed that the new drive shows correctly in disk management, and have formatted the drive with MBR and NTFS settings. Running the "diskpart" and "LIST DISK" commands properly shows the secondary drive.

I have also confirmed the drive shows correctly in BIOS.

So to recap, the secondary SSD I want to install windows on is formatted, shows in bios, and shows in windows, but does NOT show from the command prompt in the installation media or on the list of available installation disks. Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance

  3. DISKPART

Hi Dave. Thanks for your help.

I created a new volume as GPT instead MRM, using full storage. Yes, is visible in file explorer as "Disco SSD (W)"

But is not listed in BIOS.

Is not listed because Is empty and has no windows files?

My pendrive has Linux mint, and is listed in BIOS when Is connected.

I want to re-install Windows in my new SSD but I do not know how to do it.

Ssd appearing in Bios, but not Diskpart or Installation media

Installation media boots to command prompt

I've just booted from known working install media to see exactly what it does when booting. The sequence of events is...

    1. Windows logo on a black screen
    2. circling dots appear beneath the logo
    3. light blue 'Please wait' screen with circling dots
    4. a command prompt window (very briefly)
    5. the initial Setup page appears

Do you see steps 1-3? If so, it appears you have stopped at step 4, suggesting that something on the disc cannot be read.

Does the disc boot properly in another machine? If so, try cleaning the laptop's drive lens then try booting from the disc again.

If not, make new install media with Microsoft's Media Creation Tool, either as a bootable USB, on an ISO that you can burn to another disc. At Step 8 in Option One of this tutorial you can choose between making a USB or an ISO.
