  1. SSD has been spiking to 100% active time, causing itself to unmount.

In the past week my SSD thats installed on my laptop has been on 100% active time, when nothing has been happening. Eventually it disconnects itself making me have to shut off the laptop and reconnect the SSD. I havent been able to get any work done in the past week due to this. I've also done/tried all the power managment stuff. SSD also has good healthSome specsSSD has been spiking to 100% active time, causing itself to unmount. :Device name LaptopProcessor 11th Gen IntelR CoreTM i5-11300H @ 3.10GHz 3.11 GHzInstalled RAM 48.0 GB 47.8 GB usableDevice ID D3D43261-575D-4664-9A88-80733249859BProduct ID 00325-97278-80047-AAOEMSystem type 64-bit operating sys

  2. ssd usage spiking causing freeze

my ssd usage keeps spiking to 100 percent quite randomly and it causes the screen to freeze. it happens every 10 to 15 seconds as long as im doing an activity or moving around my cursor etc. i have reinstalled windows , my disc health is at 100 percent, i have done a clean boot , it happens in safe mode too , all my drivers are updated , and i have run the SFC / scannow multiple times . i cannot find a solution and i am really frustrated . i dont have the money to change any parts either. would really appreciate some help.

Windows 10 Freezes; SSD's transfer rate goes to 100%

    Hi,

I am experiencing the same exact problem.

    • Dell Latitude E5520
    • Windows 10 Version 1607 (OS Build 14393.953)
    • Seagate Momentus XT 500GB (Booting Drive, Disk 0, based on combination 4GB SSD and the rest is HDD).
      • The last few months it was freezing briefly (within a minute or so) and then unfreezes. All activities that do not need to access the drive can be done normally while frozen up to some point.
    • Crucial MX300 SSD 525GB Booting Drive (Disk 0), recently bought to replace the above 'aging' Seagate.
      • Freeze after a few operations and remains frozen until Power Recycled.
      • Disk Active Time spikes to 100% while Disk Transfer Rate is 0 or minimal.
      • All activities that do not need to access the drive can be done normally while frozen up to some point.
    • I have not tried replacing the Microsoft generic SATA driver yet.
Hope the above helps pin-pointing the issues. I would greatly appreciate assistance in how to replace the SATA driver, if there is no cure from Microsoft yet.

    Thank you in advance!

    UPDATE:

    Applied KB4015438. Same issue:

    • Freeze after a few operations and remains frozen until Power Recycled.
    • Disk Active Time spikes to 100% while Disk Transfer Rate is 0 or minimal.
    • All activities that do not need to access the drive can be done normally while frozen up to some point.

    UPDATE (03/27/2017):

    Applied KB4016635. Issue persists:

    • Freeze after a few operations and remains frozen until Power Recycled.
    • Disk Active Time spikes to 100% while Disk Transfer Rate is 0 or minimal.
    • All activities that do not need to access the drive can be done normally while frozen up to some point.
Replaced Microsoft Generic SATA Driver to OEM (Intel) Driver. System has been stable since 03/26/2017 15:10.

Random 100% SSD usage spikes freeze computer for 15-30 seconds

Hey guys, I've been having an issue with my computer for the last couple of months where it randomly freezes (could be simply using Word or playing any game), I've been trying to find a solution but I've been unsuccesful. Whenever it happens, the task manager shows a 100% usage for the SSD without any real indication of what could be causing it:

Debating on buying another SSD to see if that fixes it. Also, I found a post from 2016 with the same problem but I couldn't make Intel RST work on my PC Random spikes of 100% disk activity on system drive. Would seriously appreciate your help. Thanks !
