  2. Windows 11 SSD won't boot in either UEFI or CSM

Hello The Sand GuardianGuardian of the Sand,

Welcome to Microsoft Community and we regret the inconvenience caused to you.

Assume that the first step is checked: Check if your computer’s BIOS is set to UEFI mode. If it’s not, you may need to change the boot mode to UEFI in order to boot from an SSD. ✔

Then make sure that Secure Boot is enabled in your BIOS settings. This will help prevent unauthorized access to your Windows.

You also need to check whether the SSD is formatted with the GPT partition scheme. If not, you may need to reformat it using GPT to boot in UEFI mode.

If the issue still persists please try disconnecting all other drives connected to the computer and try booting from the SSD again to see.

BTW: If you have another SSD, you can put it on your computer and install Windows to see if it recognizes it.

Merry Christmas to you and wish you everything as well!

    Best Regards,

  3. Windows Install - Can’t find SSD driver

I’m trying to install Windows on an Asus Zenbook Q409. When I get to the step to select the storage device and partitions, there are no storage devices listed, but it gives the option to browse for drivers. I confirmed that the SSD is functioning as it is listed in both the UEFI and works fine in an Ubuntu live boot. The SSD is a WD SN 735. When I search for this SSD the closest result I get is a SN730. Where can I find the driver for the WD SN735?

I’ve tried this with both Windows 10 and 11 bootable USBs.

  4. SSD in Uefi/secure bootdisables my ssd

Windows refuses to install on NVME SSD (Samsung 960 EVO)

First, thanks everyone who copy-pasted the first relevant results they found in Google. I found those before I asked the question.

The solution that I got to work is as follows:

    • Disable CSM / UEFI
    • Enable Secure Boot
    • Now the installer can access the NVME SSD
      • Format the drive
      • Restart the machine

    • Enable CSM / UEFI

    • Disable Secure Boot

    • Proceed to installer and now Windows will allow you to install to the NVME SSD drive
